Emergency Care For You

Patient ER Stories

Anthem BlueCross and BlueShield plans in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri have announced they will deny coverage for policyholders who sought care in the emergency room for conditions the plans felt should not have been considered an emergency by the patients.

This policy puts patients at risk--patients should never be forced to diagnose themselves or delay seeking emergency care out of fear their health insurance company will later not cover the visit, leaving them with large bills to pay entirely out of pocket.

If you have had a negative experience with an Anthem plan denying coverage after you or a dependent went to the emergency room, we want to hear about it. Please tell us your story so that we can help ensure patients are better protected in the future.
